MY LIFE IN TRAINS
My Story - Part Twenty Three
Padarn Railway, Burton on Trent and Leicester Central
In late March 1963 we went on a geology field trip to Snowdonia. One day, as we walked along the recently closed Padarn Railway, I came across the railway’s locos – one was just wheels, the other two were intact, but were scrapped not long after.
In early May I hitch hiked north, and ended up alongside the Burton to Derby line, east of Burton. And then, later in the month, I discovered Leicester Central station – why didn’t I go back?
