Twelve Minutes at Stratford Station – 13 February 1960
I wonder what I did on the rest of this day – six images in such a short period on another cloudy February afternoon. They show how busy such a location, with major locomotive, carriage and freight facilities, and many through trains, could be at the time.

15:36 First of a sequence taken over a 12 minute period at Stratford station on 13 February 1960. LNER L1 2-6-4T No 67716
heads a local towards Liverpool Street.
15:37 Stratford station on 13 February 1960. LNER rebuilt N7/3 0-6-2T No 69681
15:38 Stratford station on 13 February 1960. LNER K3 2-6-0 No 61822 and LNER N7/2 0-6-2T No 69681 are heading for home, while steam in the background promises more excitement. You can see the platform we used to walk off as one of our routes into the shed.

How great to see photos of N7s again - so nostalgic - your photos are just like the images in my dreams. Brought up as a 'white socked and gloved young lady' in Enfield my parents thought I was 'off walking around the rose beds in the Town Park. Wrong!! I was around the local engine sheds and Saturdays would find me on Stratford station. My mother could never understand how I managed to get grease and dirt on my clothes - I blamed the workmen who sat on the park benches leaving their dirt behind. Ive left a comment on your post in Steam Trains Facebook - if they will allow it. Thanks again. P.S. Spend holiday at NYMR - cant keep away!! 😀
